World Youth Day Sydney 2008.

Stage Rig recently completed a major project for World Youth Day in Sydney 2008. Our brief from the client was to create 2 x Press Tribunes for the events at Randwick Racecourse and at Barangaroo.

We created a 300 x Seat Press Tribune at Barangaroo, and a 500 x Seat Press Tribune at Randwick Racecourse. Our scaffolding and decking system also supported translation booths, a broadcast studio and camera platforms on each tribune.

Scaffolding for AJC @ Randwick, 2007

In May of 2007, Stage Rig provided a large decking system to suit corporate enclosures and catering requirements for the Autumn Carnival Racing Season @ Randwick Racecourse.

Our brief was to build two decks, the larger one of which was 66 metres x 28 metres, and built to a height of 4.5 metres. 5 x sets of stairs were also provided to facilitate access. A secondary deck at 76 metres x 18 metres x 1.5 metres with stair access was also provided. Built to Australian Standards and engineered to hold up to 5Kpa, the decks enabled guests to view the entire racecourse.

Stage Rig has recently completed the Autumn Racing Carnival in April 2008 @ Randwick Racecourse, with a deck at 76m x 26m.

FINA 2007 Swimming Championships @ Rod Laver Arena and Melbourne Sports & Aquatic Centre

The FINA 2007 Swimming Championships were held in various venues in Melbourne between March and April of 2007. Encompassing Swimming, Diving, Open Water Swimming, Water Polo and Synchronised Swimming, the event is held internationally every 2 years.

Stage Rig was commissioned by FINA to provide the

  • press tribunes and camera platforms for each venue,
  • the Rod Laver Arena,
  • Melbourne Sports and Aquatic Centre and the St. Kilda Foreshore.

The modular nature of the scaffolding system enabled level decking to be built within the tiered arena seating. This meant that cameras were placed amongst the seating, enabling the closest possible access to the action, and that press and commentary boxes were also dispersed evenly throughout the crowd.

Melbourne 2006 Commonwealth Games

Stage Rig was commissioned by the Melbourne 2006 Commonwealth Games to provide the press tribunes and camera platforms for all venues during the two week event.

Stage Rig also provided installation of scaffolding domes to suit the Opening and Closing Ceremonies at the Melbourne Cricket Ground.

Camera Platforms were built in various locations, both inside and out. They can be built to just about any dimension, which suits a number of different vantage points. Platforms and scaffolding can also be built on level or uneven ground. Because the platforms are so sturdy, they enable a very clear and steady shot.
